Veritas 17-1/2" Long Planing Stop
These low-profile work stops present a broad bearing surface for your workpiece. Particularly useful with thin or narrow stock, each ~32mm (1-1/4") wide anodized aluminum rail projects just ~5.5mm (0.22") above the bench top, allowing materials as thin as 6.35mm (1/4") to be worked or planed without obstruction. It also provides a reliable registration surface for materials too narrow to span two adjacent bench dogs.
The two steel posts slide along a T-track on the underside of the rail and fit 19mm (3/4") diameter dog holes. Different sizes are available - this listing is for a single 444mm (17-1/2") Planing Stop of which, the posts can be spaced a maximum of 425mm (16-3/4") apart.
For tasks that involve the application of horizontal force in one direction, such as planing, a single stop can be used with no additional clamping. Stops can also be placed perpendicular to one another to capture two edges of the workpiece to prevent rotation, as illustrated. A simple way to secure work without the constraints of typical clamping methods.
